“Entering Roxbury”

Entering Roxbury

Entering Roxbury is a video collage of the area and landmarks of Boston Massachusetts’ gateway neighborhood of Roxbury set to an original music soundtrack that speaks to the richness of the community.

In 2014 the Fellowes Athenaeum Trust of the Dudley Branch of the Boston Public Library funded
Tessil Collins’ proposal to produce Entering Roxbury, an updated version of the “My Roxbury” video poem, that reflects the renovation of this beloved community.

While Tessil shot “My Roxbury” alone, for Entering Roxbury he enlisted the creative skills of local photographers Lolita Parker, Jr., Darius Morant, videographers Maureen McNamara, René Dongo and music designer Rollins Ross.
